Garlic has been used in my family to lower blood pressure and to maintain clean arteries or help remove mild clogging from the arteries. My grandmother used to make a tincture of garlic and called it “garlic essence”.

I thought maybe some of you would give it a try, so here goes the recipe!

Hungarian Garlic Essence Recipe

Take 2/3 pound (or 30 dkg) of peeled garlic and 300 ml of Ethyl Alcohol (96%).

Peel the garlic and press it through a garlic press, then put the resulting ground garlic in a glass container with a strong lid.

Pour the alcohol on top of it, then put aside and let it stand for 10 days, shaking it up a little every day.

On the tenth day you can drain it through a clean cheesecloth and then pour the fluid – the garlic “essence” – in a bottle that has a tight cap.

Nature does have a system for getting acidophilus to your baby, even before her first feeding. About halfway through pregnancy, the mother undergoes a hormonal change causing the lining of her vaginal wall to build up a lot of glycogen, which encourages the growth of lactobacilli, including Lactobacillus acidophilus. According to the website U.S. Pharmacist, the baby gets bathed with these beneficial acidophilus bacteria during a normal birth. They enter the mouth to begin populating the digestive tract. In addition to providing the first probiotics, the changes in the chemistry of the vaginal wall by the action of the lactobacilli make it more resistant to harmful bacteria. These good bacteria form colonies in the baby’s intestines and thrive on breast milk.
